    gun control

    Advertisements

yet another reason for gun control?...sad day for those people.

don't wanna start another gun totin' parade listing all the weapons everyones owns just a thread to reflect on those poor people and maybe wether registration would make a difference?

i don't know, guns are so much part of our history, they shaped the country and identify our foreign policy and national identity do you think we can turn into switzerland? i don't know if there is anything that can be done.....

what happened to the good ol days when being angry at someone for whatever reason, they made fun of you, they are a race you don't like, whatever and just jumping them? now its bringing knives to school and shooting dozens of people. i am confused as to the psyche of 13 year olds nowdays.....maybe doom and specops games have anything to do with it?

days like this i want to be a quaker but i'd miss my frapuccino too much...

I doubt gun control can change overall gun-related crime statistics. Certainly it may prevent the random individual that goes psychotic from obtaining a gun in the heat of a moment, but guns themselves for those with criminal intent are far too easy to gain even in places/countries with strict gun control laws.

Most gun owners are responsible owners. While I don't think guns should be prohibited, the laws should be made for it to be tougher and more of an earned right to obtain one.

Sitting for a 10 day wait and a pathetic basic firearm safety course doesn't make perhaps your average joe looking for protection respect the lethal capabilities a gun has.

In England, where draconian gun control laws were passed in the last ten years (making ownership of all handguns and most other firearms illegal) the handgun crime rate has gone through the roof, as has the number of so-called "hot burglaries", those that occur when the robber KNOWS that someone is home. The british response has been to make self-defense by the attacked a crime and ban the carrying of any sort of weapons including pocket knives.

    Gun control simply doesn't work.

And keep in mind that this kid could just have easily gotten a jar of gasoline and killed even more people. In fact, the biggest mass murderers in the US have used fuels like jet fuel (9/11) diesel (oklahoma city) or gasoline (a couple of arsons) to carry out their crimes.

BTW, had that "security guard" actually had a weapon, or a teacher or two had a weapon, the outcome may well have turned out quite differently.

this is how you can change one gun into five guns..... (mo)

does anyone have any statistics handy with regards to guns and homicides?

in canada gun crimes have been steadily on a decline and i think it has much to do with the legislation that all guns have to be registered.
