but remember that, even when those who move you be kings or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.

Myth: Eating turkey makes you drowsy.

Fact: Even Carroll and Vreeman believed this one until they researched it. The thing is, a chemical in turkey called tryptophan is known to cause drowsiness. But turkey doesn't contain any more of it than does chicken or beef. This myth is fueled by the fact that turkey is often eaten with a colossal holiday meal, often accompanied by alcohol — both things that will make you sleepy.

hahahaha they even taught us that at my Kaplan MCAT review

I was surprised by the Turkey myth and the myth about drinking 8 glasses of water/day myth.

My parents' physicians always tell them to take their body weight in # of pounds and drink half that number in ounces of water each day. I assumed this was supported by the literature. I had always assumed that coffee and other diuretic liquids increased the amount of water you needed to drink.

Cell phones in the hospital would be nice. I still see docs using pagers all over the place. It might be habitual at this point.
