A Brief History of Malaysia by The World Factbook

Flag of Malaysia

During the late 18th and 19th centuries, Great Britain established colonies and protectorates in the area of current Malaysia; these were occupied by Japan from 1942 to 1945. In 1948, the British-ruled territories on the Malay Peninsula except Singapore formed the Federation of Malaya, which became independent in 1957. Malaysia was formed in 1963 when the former British colonies of Singapore, as well as Sabah and Sarawak on the northern coast of Borneo, joined the Federation. The first several years of the country's independence were marred by a communist insurgency, Indonesian confrontation with Malaysia, Philippine claims to Sabah, and Singapore's withdrawal in 1965. During the 22-year term of Prime Minister MAHATHIR bin Mohamad (1981-2003), Malaysia was successful in diversifying its economy from dependence on exports of raw materials to the development of manufacturing, services, and tourism. Prime Minister Mohamed NAJIB bin Abdul Razak (in office since April 2009) has continued these pro-business policies. Read More ...

Our coursework utilises an online Moodle platform, which provides the student with our exclusive curriculum and direct access to our esteemed panel of lecturers, while delivering numerous exam and quiz questions, as well as offering each student a uniquely tailored step-by-step plan and exclusive test-taking strategies for their success.

This gives our students a massive advantage on the road to success on their exam and during the match, if they wish to be matched for residency. Our track record for success is evident not only in the number of student success stories we have accumulated over the past three years, but also in having an over 95% student success rate in the 1st graduated cohort and over 80% success rate in the second graduate cohort, for USMLE, for both Step 1 and Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS. Certificate of Clinical Competency in Acupuncture

A novel effort to train interested individuals to get quality expertise in acupuncture

About

Ipoh-based Tambun Acupunture Academy (TAA) is teaming up with Perdana University in offering a six-month certificate course in integrated acupuncture. Modern acupuncture uses the principles of medicine. As a matter of fact, it was recognised by the Ministry of Health Malaysia as a complementary treatment at government hospitals. Beyond Malaysia, the acupuncture modality was recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 2003. In its publication, Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials, it recognizes 28 diseases, symptoms or conditions for which acupuncture has been proven to be an effective form of treatment. The WHO is the global authority for heath and health care within the United Nations system.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working as an acupuncturist is that you will be helping people through their pain and illness. As acupuncturists we support our patients to change their lives and often witness incredible and profound change. A number of patients are also likely to attend your clinic regularly for maintenance treatments and in this way you will treat people over many years. A benefit that students cherish most about studying is greater awareness of their own health and the opportunity to change their lifestyle. Acupuncturists can also choose to specialise in a particular area, for example fertility, stress and insomnia.

As an acupuncturist, it is likely that you will be self employed and many of our graduates enjoy being their own boss and the flexibility this gives them. Some work part time to fit around other commitments such as childcare, while other acupuncturists work full time. There are many different types of clinics to work in. From a solo practice to a multi-bed clinic or GP surgeries. As acupuncture students advance through the course, they experience more practical clinical work, as they build towards becoming competent and confident acupuncture practitioners.

During the course, we prepare you for setting up and running a clinic. By the time you complete this certificate course, you will have completed clinical observations with experienced acupuncturists; completed common treatment procedures and completed a business plan. We not only support you in becoming an excellent acupuncturist, but also in setting up a thriving practice.

Who Should Attend?

Everyone of all ages.
