    Chances of acceptance

    Advertisements

    Hi All,

I was originally going to take my MCATS this fall, as I finish my last year of Bachelors. I went to a two year school for Nursing after HS. And then went on to work. As I worked the last two years, I have decided I want to do more then nursing. So the plan was to finish Bachelors (one more year), take MCATS and apply to Poznan. Well turns other then the Bachelors, I still need to take a year of physics.
SOoooo... this is kind of last minute as I know my chances are not the best as I am doing this last minute, but I have nothing to lose. I am going to apply to the 6 year MD program for this coming fall. I have gpa of 3.1, ton of volunteer work as well as vast amount experience in the medical community as I have worked as a nurse for a couple of years, and prior to that as a technician. I have the motivation and the brains to do this. But I have never taken ACT/SAT exams, so I will have to take the internal test during the interview process (granted I get one). Any one have any recommendation on what to use as a study tool for this test? Or any tips in increase my chances of getting in, other than recommendation letters and maybe a supplemental letter explaining my last minute application.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey! If you're doing the 6-MD I'm pretty sure they're going to only look at your high school marks, at least from who I saw being interviewed for 6-MD they were just finishing up high school. I did undergrad but that didn't affect me, experience and university will just build you up and give you a better chance. During the interview they'll likely ask if you have research experience/publications, and ask about volunteering and what not. The entrance exam should be fine if you took any university-level sciences, you should be more than set with that. I don't think you need to give the supplemental letter, a lot of people are still left to interview so I wouldn't worry about it! Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't perse really have HS marks. I went the first 2 years in Canada, which was a different grading system then the US so they just counted my credits, then I had a year of school in the US (11th grade) and for my senior year I did 'running start," which was basically college level classes that counted for the remaining high school credits. So that usually looks good on applications. I will order a transcript and see.
I am about done with my application just waiting for my letters of reference and then will send it off. Hopefully get an interview. *fingers crossed*

No worries! I'm sure they'll review your file accordingly, probably taking it all into account. But again if you've done anything above high school level it'll reflect well on you, will likely make them think you would be better prepared than someone fresh out of high school alone. Experiences and backgrounds shape us, in interview they might even ask about it all, at least they asked me. Honestly I think you'll be fine and should get one, fingers and toes crossed for you! Cheers and write back here/pm when you get an interview!

Be prepared to go to class with children. Majority of students in the 6 year MD program are straight from high school.

If you don't have physics you can try to do it in Poznan. They offer a one month physics course in August for the 4 year MD students. I recommend emailing them, and asking.

pm me if you need anymore info.

Sell them on marketplace. Most of these people aren't even in Poland. Stop spamming.
