Hi! I wrote and had my entrance interview in Toronto March 1st 2014. The dean of Science as well as the assistant dean of medicine were both there. They ask you the questions. The entrance exam is only for gaining more points towards your application. So for example, I applied for DDS program and to gain 'recommended admission' you need to rack up 60 points. They give you a certain amount of points for how you answer the questions during interview, your grades from school, extracurricular
For example I have done research at a university lab for the past 3 years and they gave me extra points for that as well as providing them with papers that have been published at that lab that I was involved in. So don't worry about the entrance exam, if you do bad you'll just have to wow them during the interview to gain the points. I know I didn't do so well because I am still in school (university) and I had midterms and proposals due that month so I had very little time to prepare. I got recommended for admission and I am now waiting for the real acceptance letter to come in. During the interview, they will have 3 groups of papers on the table (Chemistry, Physics, Biology). You must choose a strip of paper from each group and answer the question. The questions I got were
Bio: What is the difference between a cancer and a non-cancer cell?
Answer: I talked about the DNA mutation briefly and about mitosis and cell cycle. I then went on to talk about how cancer cells divide rapidly and cause tumours which ultimately prevent blood flow to healthy tissue and thus why organs start to fail. Both deans were happy with my answer and didn't ask to elaborate.
Chemistry: what is the difference between hydrophobic and hydrophilic? give example.
Answer: talked about properties of hydrophobic and hydrophilic molecules, talked about bilayer membrane and fluidity.
Physics (I suck at physics so this one was the toughest): why do planes fly?
Answer: ... I talked about aerodynamics and the structure of the wing. Then the dean of science helped me explain how the air moves across the wings, creates pressure that keeps the plane up.
Overall, it was stressful. The questions aren't hard but you have to say specific words or else they will keep asking you to continue explaining. The deans and professors are super nice and they help you out a lot. They give you hints and say specific words to try to jug your memory. Don't worry you'll do great!

Also some other questions that were asked for other students at the interview were:
    1) Describe how proteins are made? (talk about translation, transcription, mRNA)
    2) What are the different types of RNA? What are their functions?
    3) Why does wood float and metal sink?

What is the likelihood of acceptance if you don't have physics as subject. I've already gotten a interview but I don't know whether if it's worth it as I'm going to start with 1/3 less points than all the applicants due to the lack of physics.

i didn't have physics either and my interview was successful- i was accepted. You should be fine if you master your basic sciences know the concepts.

How long did it take you to prepare, as I still haven't finished my final exams so my priority is to focus on those exams, I will have a week to prepare for my interview so do you think that's possible? I'm from the UK by the way.

If you don't have physics they take your best math mark instead.
