    Ranking dormitories.

    Advertisements

I can't seem to tell which of the dormitories would be most desirable (well, least undesirable at any rate). I think I saw a post doing this very thing, but I can't seem to find it again. Based on the website (Poznan University of Medical Sciences, POLAND), One would think:
    1) Karolek
    2) Aspirynka
    3) Medyk
    4) Eskulap
    5) Wawrzynek
Your inputs would be greatly appreciated.

On a lighter note, while googling for this very answer I came across an old ASG website listing Eskulap's Cafeteria Menu, under which Lazanki was described as 'possibly macaroni with cabbage and mushrooms'.

Karolek is brand new and they have a gym on the main floor. ( go here if you can!!)
Aspirynka and Medyk are both nice.
DO NOT GO TO ESKULAP. Its where I was and it was pretttttty terrible + none of the dorms have cafeterias.
The grocery store is really close though!

Thanks for your helpful post BozekA.

I'll probably end up trying to find an apartment before the dorm deposit deadline (all of this assuming I receive an acceptance letter), but just in case I don't find an apartment to my linking, I want to have the dorm as an option.

Karolek does have a bistro bar on the main floor. The only problem with Karolek is that you need to pay for the electricity, water, and washing machines apposed to having all those bills included at medic/aspirynka.

If you will be living at dorms I would say go to Karolek since its brand new and very nice even with the bills it won't be expensive. If you do find a flat then take it, but make sure it's in a good location close to all the uni buildings and dorms.

An actual bar in a dorm?

I've been reading some more, and I think I'll try for an apartment as soon as I receive a letter of acceptance. Thanks for your input! I'm sure students who plan on staying in the dorms will find it very useful.

Anyone have any picts. of the dorms? I've tried googling but I only get the outside of the buildings. What does the inside of them look like?

Karolek doesn't have a Bar in the sense that it serves alcohol - it's basically the same as the Milk-Bars (Bar Mleczny) which you can find throughout Poland. They serve your basics like pierogi's and cutlets etc. The food is good and cheap though for the most part. Before that cafe opened up there weren't too many other food options for students in the area. There is a little cafe inside the dentistry building as well as in Anatomicum. There is a place that serves crepes inside of the grocery store beside the dorms as well as an spaghetti place. And there is also a cafe in the hospital close to the dorms.
