Poznan University of Medical Sciences Interview Questions?

    Advertisements

I have searched through the threads about the interview questions, but I could never find anything concrete. Does anyone know what kind of questions the interviewers may ask? About Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Mostly the science questions. Thanks in advance!

Hey. Did u get an interview? The interview is really laid back. Dress nicely and try not to get ahead of yourself. I had my interview December. There was about 4~5 people there. 3 guys and 1 girl. They all flew from Poland for the interview. They start off by asking why you want to do medicine (dentistry in my case). I told them why and they go on and ask what you do in your spare time. Also they ask what your favorite subjects are and of course you tell them. After that I got a physics question. He asked me to give him a crash course about what light means. So i said its radiation and there is a spectrum we can see etc... Then he asks how you see things biologically. So i said through our eyes using the rods and the cones etc... I messed up a bit cause I didn't know much but they are really laid back. After that they said Hope to see you in Poznan next year! And now I'm preparing my documents and sending them in to get my acceptance letter

    When is your interview Skate?

Dont worry its really chill!! Just be yourself!

Thanks for the informative reply. Do you know by any chance, how many applicants there are and how many students got accepted? I am going to apply for the 5 year dentistry program too. =)

Oh okay I thought you were a High School Senior applying for 2011/2012 like me. I got an e-mail from them saying that the next round of interviews will be at the end of March.

Childlife nailed it all. For the science questions, if you are good with basics then you will be fine, if not then review your basic physics, anatomy, physiology. I am a bit fuzzy on the exact phrasing of the questions but i was asked something related to propagation of light, chambers of the heart and the order in which blood is pumped out and received, filtration process in the kidney and i think a genetics question. As for other interview questions and info, here are the ones I gathered from the PUMS threads over the years. They were helpful for my interview (4yr MD).

    Interview was quite short like 10-15 minutes TOPS. Questions were;

    1 tell me about yourself,

2 why Poland, why did you study X in university, tell me about your family.

3 Why do you want to study Medicine?

4 What type of physicians do you want to be and why
5 General background information. Extracurricular activities, medical experience, hobbies, etc.

6 Academic background. Grades, science classes taken (chemistry, biology, physics), overall grades, etc.

7 Why KMU/PUMS? Why Poland? (Little Polish History)

8 A science related question they ask you to answer.

9 And they give you an opportunity to ask questions to the staff.

10 They'll also ask you if you know any polish or have any polish lineage in you, they may also ask if you know some history regarding the school, city or even country,
they'll also take a look into your transcript, and if they see any outliers on your grades they will ask you about them.

Best of luck to you both!

Gah...they actually asked science questions during the interview for the 4 year MD program? I'd have thought that the MCAT would have been sufficient evidence of our potent sciency prowess.

Yeah, I was totally caught off guard when they started throwing questions, but as stated, the subjects stayed pretty basic... and these guys are supa chill.

Yes, the MCAT sure says something about ones knowledge of science but some people are applying with old MCAT results. Correct/decent answers to the questions while ensure that you are still on top of your game when it comes basic sciences (of which Bio and Chem are the building blocks of Medical science). Also, if every candidate is coming into the interview with stellar records, it would be another factor to help narrow down the candidates.
