    Dropout rate

I was wondering if the Americans studying in Poland could tell me what the dropout rate is? How many kids just cannot hack it? Is it because they part too much or are just not cut out?

I can't speak for other schools, but at Jag it's not very high. In our class this year we had 2. In upper years there has been some drop outs from year to year, but not many.

In general, the harder the school is to get into, the lower the dropout rate tends to be. This may not always be the case (some schools will nurse people along who have no business being there), but as they say, the proof is in the pudding. If the students can't pass the board exams for practice in their country of origin, the medical degree does them no good, anyway!

devildoc brings up a good point. schools that pass along their students year to year may not have a high drop-out rate, but they will have more students who can't pass the board exams thus making their medical degree useless.

What both of you said is correct, but I think it's still good to know what the drop out rates are.

Why? Because it gives someone like me an idea of how the school is going to be. Drop out rates tell me some things: there are people there that don't belong there, or the education sucks and there is no support for the students etc.

If I hear of high drop out rates, I get worried. I don't get worried if I hear of low drop out rates. If the schools pass people through that shouldn't pass through, that's ok with me because I know that I wouldn't allow myself to be one of those people.
