    Comprehensive data on Polish schools.

    Advertisements

Can anyone direct me to data on different schools in Poland. Or perhaps a list of the top schools? I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with the schools. A few points Im interested in is:

    -USMLE prep classes/teaching
    -Cali approval
    -Graduation rate
    -4th year in the states
    -generaly held in high regrard

A school that stands out is Jag, but they only admit 35 students a year.

USMLE prep - lol thats almost funny. although im speaking as a poznan student here. there is no formal prep help of any sort. the classes give you MOST of the info tested on the exam, sometimes not enough, sometimes too much. In the end its up to you to study for the test and figure everything out on your own. But on the positive side you have the NBME shelf exams to test you and gauge how you do compared to US students. Most classes use NBMEs as final exams.

Cali approval - i know poznan and lublin are approved as of this year. some other schools are also approved but i dont remember which ones.

grad rates - let me say this, our class started with about 77 people now theres 65-68 people. not bad. lol but take under the consideration that NOBODY fails out. you literally have to be a brain dead zombie who cant read to fail out of this school. people either leave for personal reasons or they are moved to the 6-year MD program which is easier (basically undergrad 6 year party experience). if you fail an exam, any exam, even a final NBME, the department will give you a retake (much easier than the NBME) after retake until you pass. it has nothing to do with the school being bad, just stupid people. they give you all the necessary info and opportunity, but thats all. if you dont study and fail, they will take your money and keep giving you tests lol. (who cares, you wont be a retarded doctor in their country right? plus odds are those ppl wont ever pass boards so they wont have a chance to hurt a patient

that said i dont know how grad rates translate into match rates, etc. there is no feedback. but from what i hear the competent ppl with their exams passed do find positions.

4th year in the states - you get to do 16 wks of electives in the US, unless you are limiting yourself by the 12 wk new york state rule in which case you can only do 12 weeks = 3 rotations. The rule states that if you do more than 12 wks of clinicals outside of your school's country you cannot do a residency in NYS, you may however match in another state and once you're done you're eligible for licensure in NYS.

high regard - i dont think so. def behind all the carribean schools, and far behind the big three carribean schools.

-USMLE prep classes/teaching: No school to my knowledge has formalized USMLE prep
    -Cali approval: Lublin, Jag, Poznan
-Graduation rate: No information on this but you can google and find graduates from Poznan and Jagiellonian practising or in residencies in the U.S. and Canada.
-4th year in the states: You have to set this up yourself and there will be extra fees to pay the hospitals in the states for letting your do electives with them. Don't know about Lublin, perhaps HMI helps out with 4th year.
-generaly held in high regrard: I posted a ranking previously but it was a ranking of the Polish programs. From what I've read, it's Jagiellonian, followed by Poznan.
