He complaints of constipation, abdominal pain, and weakness

    Advertisements

A 7 year-old kid who lives in a house that was built before the Great Depression (circa 1929) came to see a doctor with many symptoms. He complaints of constipation, abdominal pain, and weakness. His mom reported that he was not very bright and has a learning problem. His mom complaints, "my kid is a moron, he loves to peel paint from the house and eats them like candies". You suspected that the kid has "this" problem. You ordered a battery of test, one of them is a complete blood count. What do you expect to see on the CBC of this kid:

    A. hypochromic microcytic anemia
    B. hyperchromic microcytic anemia
    C. hypochromic macrocytic anemia
    D. hyperchromic macrocytic anemia
