    Guaranteed acceptance to DO school

    Advertisements

Anybody know about this or can verify this:

"...apply to a 12 month masters degree program where you take a diluted version of the first year of medical school. Upon completing the program successfully with a 3.5+ GPA you are AUTOMATICALLY accepted into the DO school the following year."

There's something similar to that around here (Texas). Although I think their program is a bit shorter, but you can double check. It's the UNT Health Science Center post bac program to get into DO school.

many post bacc programs have this because they know a large percentage of the class will not make the cut off requirements and these post bac programs are nice cash cows for the schools.

the question you have to ask is what percent of people in a post bac program make it to get accepted and graduate with a medical degree

many of the post bacc programs will do this..put this carrot on a stick out there but meeting the requirements is tough. this is a cash making machine for the schools

I know of 2 such programs: Touro-NY....you will have a place in their DO class after completing the rigorous curriculum which very few in the program actually make it...A gpa of 3.5+ and passing a cumulative exam at the end is the requirement.

Then there is PCOM, lake Erie..don't know the specifics of the program but I'm sure OP can search and find out.

But like the AUCMD2006 said, its all about making money and the program is not for everyone.

MSc/MPH will help you get into DO/MD Programs

    TIP:
if you complete a MSc (Biomedical sciences) or MPH, chances are you will get into MD or DO programs, and also re-take your MCATs....

    Good Luck

Western university (Pomona, CA) has a new program (Medical masters) that offers linkage to their DO school, given certain requirements are met.

Nova Southeastern University in South Fl does this...you have to make at least a B in your classes and yes you will be guaranteed a spot in the DO class after the one year of biomedical science...no retakes on MCATs or anything.
