Do your pre-med in North America.
Most North American med schools (MD/DO) specifically want the pre-reqs to be done in Canada/USA. What's the point of pigeonholing yourself to the Caribbean this early in your career?
Doing your pre-med in Caribbean schools is a gigantic waste of time/money, considering these courses have no value outside of the Caribbean.

You are correct, if you are applying to US/Canadian medical schools, it would make little sense to do a pre-med program in the Carib. However, if you are looking to only attend lets say MUA or SGU, then doing the pre-med courses at their school (MUA/SGU), knowing you will have a seat in their medical program after graduation would make sense for many.

agreed. Why would you want your goal to be set at a Caribbean med school? Aim for American schools and if you can't get admission there then consider the Carib.

I think we all have reasons to attend the school of our choice. For me, its about getting back as soon as possible to the area where my son lives. This is possible much quicker this route as opposed to moving away to a US based school. Yes, there are certainly potential drawbacks and risks. I think those of us that have been in healthcare long enough and/or do good research on our academic choices are well aware of these risks and are confident they can be mitigated.

I always appreciate input, however this is not the thread to debate US vs. Carib. There are plenty of other threads for that.
