I applied for Basic Sciences and I am being interviewed for PreMed

I really need some genuine advice from the wise and experienced ... As you can see from the subject line, I applied to MUA for it's basic sciences and I was sent an email to interview for PreMed as they feel it would be more appropriate for me... "The Admissions Committee feels that you are only competitive for the PreMed Program"

I am afraid now that if I have reached this stage in the admissions process that I wont even stand a chance for any of the other med schools like saba, smu etc.

    Hi docUment,

I not too long ago, recently wrote this to someone who was in the same position as you. Maybe you will find it helpful: [quote] "Don't let this discourage you. I was in the same position as you at one point. I applied for basic sciences in 2011 and was accepted to pre-med. I decided, after much consideration, to take the offer, and let me tell you, I do not regret that decision. I feel that pre-med gave me an invaluable experience. Besides preparing you for the med program, which it does VERY well, you also get a chance to get acquainted with living on Nevis in the "not too stressful" environment of pre-med. You also get use to the teaching style here at MUA and become familiar with a lot of the faculty that you will again have in your med program. Most of the students I did pre-med with are still with me and we are now entering med 4. Those that did pre-med, I have to say, all in all, are the ones that are excelling in the courses and we didn't have to get accustomed to anything in med 1 like our other classmates did. So I urge you, if you have not made you decision already, consider doing the pre-med program here at MUA. It is only another 8 more months, I promise you it will fly by and it will be worth it in the long run! Good Luck!"[end quote] With that said docUment, on a more personal note to your post specifically, you can always try your shot at another school, I am just speaking from experience above. If you don't mind doing pre-med, then like I said, this is not a waste of money. However, if you think you are ready for the med program and think the admissions committee got it wrong, than what the heck, apply to other schools. What do you have to lose, right? Best of luck to you though, don't worry it will all fall in to place, and what is meant to be will be. I never use to say that kind of stuff, but I do believe in that saying now! You can always message me if you want, and I will try to help you the best I can. I was in your shoes once
