Medical University of the Americas, Belize is one of the six Caribbean Medical Schools that has a permanent campus to provide you with strength and stability.
MUA Belize Medical School's curriculum in Belize is based on the US Medical School model with the integration of clinical components beginning as early as third semester.
The Medical University of the Americas is on a trimester system and admits a limited number of students three times per year, in September, January and May. Students may apply for admission to the Medical University at any time throughout the year, but students that submit their applications well in advance will have a greater chance of matriculating in the semester of their choice. Within two weeks after the complete application and documents have been received, the Registrar will schedule a telephone conference call or personal interview between the Admissions Committee and the applicant. Because the Registrar cannot schedule an interview until all the admissions materials are complete, please be sure to read the entire packet carefully. Following the interview, students will be notified of their admission status within 10 days. After receiving a letter of acceptance from the Medical University, students will be required to acknowledge their candidacy within 30 days and submit a non-refundable tuition deposit to secure a position in the class. The deposit is credited toward tuition when the student matriculates. The remainder of the tuition and fees are due 45 days prior to the beginning of the semester in which admission has been granted. The Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program at the Medical University of the Americas in Belize is recognized by the World Health Organization and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. The Medical University is chartered and approved by the Government of Belize's, Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports and graduates are eligible for licensure. The E.C.F.M.G. (Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates) has declared that students from the Medical University of the Americas in Belize are eligible to take the U.S.M.L.E. (United States Medical Licensure Exam), which is required for residency and medical licensure in the United States.
