    Reputation of MUL?

    Advertisements

    Hello,

I have decided to attend MUL in October. It was a tough decision to make but I hope I don't regret it.
I was wondering what the reputation of MUL is like in Poland and also if there are a lot of racists and if the city if safe to live.

    Thanks in advance!

I think nowhere is safe to live, it's a hard question to answer "is it safe", it's you who make that decision. Just stay out of trouble and focus on school.

    Hi,

Lodz is the education capital of Poland. There are English programs at its other universities so the local population is used to seeing young foreigners wandering around the city, and they know that these young people are most likely students. All it takes is a little bit of an effort at a few words in Polish and you'll be surprized at how welcoming the people really are!

As for the level of violence, there was only one especially shocking incident that I can remember from the news within the past year, and if I remember correctly it wasn't directed at a foreigner. There is virtually zero gun violence in the city. You just need to be slightly on your guard when the local soccer team has a home game, as the fans can get verbal with passers-by on the street and a bit roudy with each other on the bus, but they won't bother you if you leave them alone.

I hope that helps! What program will you be starting this year?

    Hi Kldsak,
I will be attending the 4-yr MD program, and it was a really tough decision for me too and i really hoped; that i have not made the biggest mistake too, besides the high Sallie Mae interest on student loan, and not knowing if Lodz will have US federal loans next year and living family behind in Nashville, TN, i guess life is all about taking calculated risk, and what program were you admitted on?

What "National Medical Exam?" You mean for a polish graduate of the polish program?

Sounds confusing when most of the students here are wanting to go to the US for the Boards or their home countries in Europe outside of PL.

The big downer is fact that there are no US Federal loans is one major reason that no US student should take a risk of attending med school that does not provide unless they are fully paid by their parents. This school used to have US federal government loans in the past and lost them.

Overall, student loans are not dischargeable by bankruptcy loans if you come back and have not secured a job or a residency to pay back the loans. That is a fact. Ask any student in med school or a financial advisor. The worst type to take is private loans. Please be aware of these things.

Yes exactly I mean POLSH NATIONAL MEDICAL EXAM. PASSING that exam is allows you to apply for residency/work in most European countries for example if you pass LEK you can start working as a doctor in Ireland. As you probably know this exam is in English and students from English division take it as well. We have students who took US Federal loans as well as private loans which means that they are not as bad as you mentioned.

There isn't so much racism as you think. I think people just misinterpret rudeness as racism. I don't think it is safe at night for any students tbh.
