    personal statement letter

    Advertisements

    Hi,

I am planning to apply to MUA Nevis in January and I am going to be working on my personal statement letter over the holidays. I need a few tips on how to write and what i should write in my personal statement letter. It would be a great help to see what some of you guys have to say!

    Thanks

Just be yourself, speak of why you want to go into medicine, why you feel you would fit the role of a physician. Discuss what you can offer not only the field of medicine but also the school. Just as you have something to gain from the medical school, they have something to gain from you. Success of the school depends on the success of its students. Talk about the acomplishments you have had thus far and what your future goals and aspirations are. Good luck.

Just to add to the original question, How lengthy would you recommend it to be?? IS there a convention to write it (double spaced) or anything.

Write single spaced and no more than a page in length. If you have lots of info. to write on be sure it does not exceed one and a quarter of a page at most. The question on personal statement at the base of the application should be used as a guide for your writing.

Adjust your font and keep it to one and a quarter of a page. You may not believe it, the committee on admission has plenty of paperwork to go through. So make make it straight to the point.

I basicly did not take the personal statement too seriously, basicly I wrote down that I am not an idiot, that I have done all my pre-req work, and that I can afford to go to the school. That was enough to get me and interview. Thats what really matters.
