    MUA-Nevis and MUA-Belize -- Good Press / Bad Press

    Advertisements

    8 July 2003

Often, good news and bad news written about one school is being ascribed to the sister school. If MUA-Belize gets some "good press", it should not be taken as a feather in MUA-Nevis' hat. If someone has a strongly negative take on MUA-Nevis, it should not be thought to apply to the campus in Beilze.

Suggestion: If you write about one school or the other, it may be best to identify it as MUA-Nevis or MUA-Belize. None of us want to share the fame, NEITHER of us want to share the flame.

    exactly!!!

i agree with you, dr. allerton. that was my whole point when i posted, "Be careful of what you read on these forums" (see below posts). i know it gets confusing when people refer to both schools, but you guys need to tell us exactly which school you're talking about: NEVIS or BELIZE!!!
at any rate and at either school, i still stay with my point: BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU READ ON THESE FORUMS........(and listen to ALL sides of a story, know which are true and which are FALSE...then make a wise desicion)
good luck to all of you....

    Just curious...

Are the management different for the two sites? I was under the impression they were the same. For example, look at the two webpages:

    for Belize: http://muabelize.com/html/admission.htm
    for Nevis: http://www.mua.edu/admis.php

Looks to me they are word-for-word identical.

Also, they are both "Medical University of the Americas". I see no attempt to differentiate the 2 sites officially in the WHO or IMED listings.

For me as an outsider, a potential student, both sites appear as one identity.

Does one have a choice which site to attend? And is one informed officially by MUA the differences between the 2 sites upon applying/acceptance? Can current Belize students transfer to the Nevis site without academic and financial penalties?

    Your Question

You apply to the campus to which you want to go. Except for common ownership and some administrative aspects being handled by the corporation in Gardner, MA, the two MUA campuses are separate schools. That is my understanding. Saba, MUA Nevis, and MUA Belize are three schools which form a consortium, but they are separate schools. So, application to any one of the three schools does not constitute application to the other two, and denial of admission to one does not imply denial of admission to one of the other schools in the consortium.
