Just wanted to talk a little about the crime rate in nevis. The crime in nevis is mostly theft and no they do not come up to you and ask you to hand over your money with a machette. Usually things get stolen when you leave them around. I don't know if that is from the local people or from other students. About 3 weeks ago, someone broke into a priests home and stole his safe which requires about 2 people to carry. Since january to know, I've heard of one murder case in which someone was shot to death, but I believe that person was from st. kitts. If you've been to st kitts, you know its totally different than nevis. Always better to go with other people to st. kitts. When I first went to st kitts, someone already approached me and asked me if I wanted to buy some weed, when I said no, he just kept following me and kept asking if I wanted any. So basically, in nevis just don't leave things lying around unless theres plenty of people watching. Also don't leave your laundry in the dryer and pick it up hours later, because there has already been 2 instances that I'm aware of since january where clothes were all stolen. I usually do my laundry during the day time where people are around and can see if someone is running off with my clothes. Liquid detergent is better than the powder because the laundry machine in the dorm sucks and will just leave streaks of powder on your clothes. The one death rate is extremely rare so don't be too concerned about it, but theft in the island does happen.

When you first arrive to the airport, just be prepared to be there for awile. They take a long time to take your luggage out from the plane and after you get your luggage you will have to line up to have them open up your luggages and question you whats inside. But after your first experience there, your pretty much used to it and know what to expect. First time I came, i think I was at the airport for a good 2-3 hours. Mainly because it was a full plane.

Customs does not regulate how much weight you bring the airline does.

With AA it's 50 lbs per suitcase. Not sure about the other airlines.
