    Do MUA students have to take CCSE before taking STEP2?

    Is it true that MUA students have to take a school-administered exam called the Comprehensive Clinical Science Exam (CCSE) BEFORE being allowed to take STEP2?

    This just seems like another way for the school to weed the students out. Can anyone confirm this?

    Yes, I believe they do.
    But this is not so outrageous. Consider the Fibonacci equation
    0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, ...
    Then maybe you will understand the rationale. Remember this equation is often used in biological systems.

    You can check out MUA on St. Kitts (actually Nevis) but they have a creepster Dean who just wants to crack the whip.
    Trinity Med in St. Vincent broke away from SGU years ago after they saw it getting too big; not a great school but they
    seem to care about the students. AUC on St. Maarten was bought by DeVry and run a class act, low attrition. Saba gets mixed reviews and not
    everyone can take the tiny island, more of a rock. And then there's Ross, a lot like SGU (big and expensive) but higher attrition rate.
    I thought you were at SGU? Which school do you go to? Who are you?

    Yes they do have to take the CCSE before taking Step 2.

    The worst part, is that due to COVID, one can't schedule the CCSE.

    Which means taking Step 2 is off the books for any current students until they clear up whether remote proctoring is possible.

    Can you tell me why the students have to take the CCSE in the first place? I mean what's the point? Is the school not confident that the students will do well on STEP2?

    Taking a competitive exam requires a cutoff.
    Fibonacci
    requires an input called depth cutoff for performance. Ipso facto.
    Like so many things, it all comes down to Fibonaccis.

    Oh, so this is just a way to weed them out then? My theory is that if the school is a good school, then you don't need to take a CCSE to let the "best" students take STEP2. CCSE just seems like another roadblock in the process.

    Are you starting MUA for the Fall 2020 semester? You sound like a particular person who can't stop b*tching about the school and you haven't even started. If you don't like MUA, then don't go. Plain and simple. You're acting as if someone is forcing you to go there and in the same breathe saying things like "I'm so scared to fail (if this is indeed you)." JUST DON'T GO TO MUA! SIMPLE!
