    MUA - An Alumunus Perspective

    Advertisements

I graduated from MUA in January 2009. I started my residency in Internal Medicine in July 2009. I am currently a third year resident and I will be starting a fellowship in oncology in July 2012. I am an average student who made his way through the system and will be getting to do to what I have always wanted to do. MUA has the system in place for success. If I can do it, so can you. It is not easy, but it can be done. Carribean Medical schools get a reputation for producing substandard physicians, but I have not found that to be the case. My program has a mix of US trained and Caribbean trained residents and there is no obvious deficiencies between the two groups. In fact, there are several Caribbean trained physiciasn who were selected to be Chief Resident over US trained physicians. Pass your boards, do well in your electives and you will have no problem obtaining your choice of residency training.

I graduated from MUA as well in 2010.
I am in the residency and I was an average student as well...agree...pass your courses, pass the steps (first time might be helpful) and you are in the residency...good luck to all..
