    Taking Step 3 tomorrow

I'd appreciate your prayers to pass, if that's God's will for me. If it were up to me, that would be God's will. But I can't determine that. So would you also ask him? Thanks friends.

Yes I will drtru. By the way, this should encourage you... I'm over 50 and, by God's grace, I've done it. I'm not super smart. I'm not saying you need God to do it. But it helps when you think you can't do anymore. I am a good test taker. I get severe text anxiety though. I do work hard. I have a supportive family, and an anxiety disorder. I was 46 when I started at MUA Nevis. Let's see, I wasn't the oldest in my class. There was one lady older than me, and she made it also. There were a lot of younger people who didn't. My point; even with an ageing brain, one can make it. There were a lot of people who weren't done partying yet who struggled unnecessarily and dropped out. Regular sleep and exercise helps a lot. I'm glad I got my partying done in my 20's.

    Blessings, Chris

    congrads spodat!!

did you find you had to study a lot for step 3? I'm now a surgery resident and planning on taking step three soon but worry I may have forgotten a lot of internal medicine stuff.

    congrads again!!

Thank you very much, both of you. My program allowed me to take a solid 2 months to study. So, yes, according to some, i did have to study a lot. But I don't want to have to take it again. You may not have to study that much, being surgery keeps you very up on medicine, ER stuff? Anyway, Good luck Don and I reccomend it sooner than later, that's all. ASAP is best for most.

I find that certain concepts of medicine are covered well. family medicine concepts are not covered well in surgery. I can easliy manage a ulcerative colitis patient who failed a course of remicade or staging and presenting management options for a primary biliary cirrhosis patient but recalling all the steps in counseling someone with mild elevation in their random glucose level seems trivial.

thanks for the advice spodat. I hope to take it within the next year. perhaps I will use usmle world or a good review book (******).

I'm sure you'll do well whenever you take it. Thank God for surgeons with reasonable ego. How is that for you? Are most residents, attendings in your program decent folk to be around? The surgery residents I met in my rotations were often rude and arrogant.

since you're already in residency, the score isn't important anymore. hurray for no more tests!!!! .... at least for a while until boards.
