I would recommend bringing a water filter. U can also buy a 8 pack of the 1 liter bottles for like EC 19 at drink depot.
I was just wondering how much bottled water costs on the island....ive read a couple threads where people recommend bringing a brita....but I'd still like to know the cost of bottles.....(yes i know its expensive...if anyone has a $ amount it would be appreciated).
Thanks![]()

Bring a water filter too. U can buy 8 pack of 1 liter for EC$ 19 at drinks depot near TDC.
thanksits not really about the safety issue..im sure it is fine.....im just a little picky with the taste....and i drink ALOT of water...so just keeping my options in mind.
You *should* worry about the safety issue of the water here. Especially, if you like to drink water. Anyone who has done rounds at the hospital can tell you the number of people who suffer from stomach issues that can be associated with the water.
Also, when purchasing your water filter, look into one that's not just a 1-stage filter. The 2-stage or 3-stage cost a little more, but it's well worth it. Bring extra filters![]()
thanks for the info
I used to worry about the water....but alot of people have told me that the water is safe to drink and filters are good enough.
saying that....I might just do the bottle thing (ill save up if need be)...its a staple in my life...which is unfortunate in this instance...but I just dont want it to come bite me in the *** after.
here's my 0.02...
I drank from a brita for a semester and it was great and convenient till my boy got gall stones. Then I switched to a box of three 5 litre bottles for 15EC (which is equivalent to $5.50) from Ram's and they're awesome. Water here isn't too bad so if you don't get a brita with you don't beat yourself over it.
Best,
gG
1EC per litre does not sound bad at all.
Im going to save the money by not buying the filters and just go for bottle water...i feel much better that way. (ive heard too many gall stone horror stories)
another thing...has MUA ever considered making a deal with the grocery store or something to buy bottled water in bulk? The students would save money and the store would have made money with the higher numbers. sure would beat bringing a filter and end up wondering...praying..wishing that you dont end up with stones. lol.
Hi,
Brita works great, but I suggest boiling the water for at least 5 minutes before and then filtering. The brita itself won't kill any of the nasty little critters in the water. I know more than enough students who have contracted giardia while on the island. Better be safe than sorry![]()
all the more reason to stock up on bottled water lol
