If someone could tell me what the new clinical experience the new Dean has put in place for the Med 4 and Med 5 group is like I'd like to know.

    here you go

All the Med 4's even the ones not in PD are going to the hospital to shadow local phycisians at least once a Block. My friends did it this morning and they got to see an 80 year old diabetic man with Gangrene so bad that they are amputating his leg tomorrow, plus another patient going in for a hysterectomy. The Med 5's are just going to the hospital with the Dean when he gets called in for a Neurological consult, which I have personally gone on and it was really cool... Its not quite full rotations in the states but its a whole lot better than NOTHING like we had before.

The rotations at the Alexandria hospital been very educational. Dr R who is in charge of the students is a very well rounded person with excellent teaching skills.
My first day doing rounds he went over all aspects of DIABETES from pathology, pharmacology and basic biochemistry.

    And...

We just got word today that the Med 5's will be pulling ER shifts at the hospital from now until the end of the semester... All you guys that are not in Med 4 or 5 yet are really lucky, because by the time you guys get here you ought to get some pretty cool clinical experience that we are just getting a glimpse of before we leave.
