Does anyone know if doing kaplan PLS (personal learning system) help? How is it compared to just doing the actual Qbank?

PLS has a quiz at the end of every chapter that can be done online in addition to the questions in the book. They are NOT usmle style questions, they are intended to see if you understood the chapter material. Every question you get wrong will be analyzed, and then links are added to your home page for you to review these concepts, including text, images, and animations.

Also, the pre-test ranks your weak areas vs your strengths. There is a subject test to do at the end of each major topic, a midterm test, and a mock final. I cannot say yet how helpful this will be, although I can definitely ascertain that the teaching in the tapes is excellent, i have just completed immuno and physio, and feel that I have progressed.

I personally think I would go with USMLE world questions once I am done here, they are actually a bit harder than usmle questions and therefore will lend you better preparation for the test. Also, the school has exam master, and most students have copies of other question banks floating around.

PLS is mainly an interactive guide to help you prepare for the USMLE. It requires you to study the material and then you take chapter tests to see how well you understood. It then guides you to which concepts you made a mistake on for review. Q-bank is mainly a "usmle style" question bank that you can practice on in preparation for your steps. You can set q-bank to just test you on specific subjects, organ systems, or mixed, timed, or untimed, etc.

The PLS system that is usually done on the last/5th semester does not include the q-bank by kaplan
