    Booking flights

    Advertisements

I'm trying to purchase an airline ticket for a return flight from Nevis for the semester starting in May 2008. When I look at the academic calendar on MUA's website, there are 3 days designated for final exams in August, namely August 13, 14, 15. Is it a safe bet to book a flight in the evening from Nevis on August 15th OR should I aim to leave the island the next day? If any current MUA students can advise, I'd really appreciate. thx

By the way, I've done alot of searching on cheap flights to Nevis. Kayak.com offers the cheapest I've seen, especially coming from BC, Canada.

Usually the last final is on the Thursday, so many students book flights for Friday morning (in this case, 8/15). It is rare for flights to originate in the evening time without a really long layover (usually til around 3am or the next morning) in either St. Maarten or San Juan. With regards to sites, I usually search Kayak first, but I usually check vayama.com also.

Thanks! helps in the planning. Just assumed exams were planned for the Friday so that's why I was thinking Fri evening. It's actually cheaper to leave on Fri as opposed to sat. So hopefully it should be ok for me to book a return flight on 8/15.

I'm gonna check out Vayama as well...thanks for the tip

    Sometimes good to wait

Sometimes students are in such a rush to go home they end up booking flights that interfere with their studying and testing. The other thing you need to be weary of is leaving prior to your grades being posted. If you fail a course or get a different grade than you expected then it is nice to be here and be able to dispute the final score...

Some students have left only to find out that they failed a course and then they spend the whole break trying to sort out what happened and what they should do. Play it safe and give yourself a day or two just to make sure.
