    UPDATE: New Loan Program Available!

    Advertisements

On the MUA.edu webpage, the following is posted:

January 09, 2008ANNOUNCEMENT Medical University of the Americas is pleased to announce that Doctor’s Choice Financial Services, a provider of private student loans for graduate medical education, has agreed in principle to offer a student financial aid program for MUA students. In addition to offering student loans to new, incoming students, Doctor’s Choice plans to offer additional student loans to MUA students already enrolled at the University, as well as loan aggregation products. We will provide you with additional information upon finalization of the program. If you have any questions regarding Doctor’s Choice and its loan programs, please contact the University’s Financial Aid Office.

I looked over the websites' information page, and it seems almost as good as our HealthXpress Loans that are supposed to be terminated after the Jan 2008 (?) semester.

Just wanted to post the information in case someone wanted to know. Teri Loans aren't as good since they have so many fees associated with lending, but they are reliable since they've been contracted with MUA longer. My opinion of course...

Don't get your hopes up! Unless the school makes some type f arrangement w/loan co, this loan REQUIRES a working borrower or else, a co-signer, something many don't have!

This loan provider is as/if not more restrictive than Teri...by no means a HXpress situation. Step up MUA..... maybe a job at Rams will qualify me....should be good for about $100 EC.

Dr's Choice only good for those of us who are employed full-time or have a co-signer

It is my understanding that to qualify for this new loan program, one must 1) work full-time (this obviously eliminates all of us); or 2) have a qualified co-signer. With Health Xpress, no co-signer (or full-time job) was required.

To make sure, just call the U.S. office, I hope this is not the case because I only have friends in low places.
