well, I dont know. I think MUA has been around a bit longer than AUA so I guess it would be considered a more established school. Also, MUA has many graduates in residency right now, I may be wrong, but I dont think AUA has any graduates yet, not because its not a good school just because its still so new. Anybody feel free to correct me if I have given any misleading information in this post.

    Yes MUA is older
Sorry but AUA does have grads in residency.
I also think AUA now has a larger clinical program than MUA - that is a very critical and important difference.

In cases like this - it is best to take a tour of the schools. Here is my take form the trips I took. AUA is on a larger island in a city area with a large international airport (real important when you have to flee due to a hurricane). Yea, you have cows and other critters running around - you will see the same on Nevis. Nevis is on a small volcanic island and on a pretty remote place on that island. The profs at AUA were from several places in the US, India and Germany and were well spoken for the most part. The profs at that I heard at MUA-N where heavily accented for the most part to where I could not understand them. Look at their faculty list for both schools. You will get a good idea of what you will be dealing with.

I call it like I see it. I am not paid by ValueMD or any school. Nor do I recruit for any school.

the profs at MUA speak english quite well. there is one prof that is a bit hard to understand sometimes. I go to mua (recently started) and don't feel that language is a significant barrier.

Personally, I don't think the name of a prof (which would indicate their background) is any help when determining their ability to teach or how well they speak english.

being able to communicate well to the class (which includes an accent) is important to their level of teaching. if you can't understand what the professor is saying, then whatever they are teaching becomes almost useless.

there is one prof at AUA, an ICM prof that i still don't know what the hell he's saying. great guy, knows his stuff but attending a lecture by him is painful.

so what's better, AUA or MUA? i donno, never been to Nevis but on paper, they are about the same and will give you the same opportunities. do what james said, visit both, if you have the cash and decide from there.

    Mua

MUA all the way, no doubt. Good luck with your decision.

This is in reaction to the above comment

I think every applicant needs to understand that it doesnt matter where you go there has to be an instructor who has an accent. the accent being thick is only relative. If Mua has teachers from India, that does not make them worse than any school at all. Im sure i wouldnt be exagerating if i say about 90% of US medical schools has at least an instructor that is foreing born/trained especially from countries like India or Africa. How many percent of the teachers at AUA are from the United states or canada that were born in the United States or canada and not immigrants, as such do not have an accent? probably less than one percent. AUA even has one from Africa that is suposed to be one of the top profs in the school, dont ask me if he has an accent (thick) or not. i dont know how many foriegners have accents as strong as that of the germans. Base your decisions on better reasons than just an accent, thick or not because sometime the "thicker" the better.
    Goodluck in your decision.
