My interview was yesterday and it sucked...READ THIS!

Ok guys, I had my interview yesterday morning at 10am. I forgot who the interviewers were but there was a man and a woman. It started of very relaxed and they tried to calm me and promote a stress free telephone conference. The interview then went like this...

What do you know about the school?
Why do you want to be a doctor?
Why do you think you will be a good doctor?
    What is your strength?
    What is your weakness?
How does your family feel about you going abroad to study medicine?
What 3 people would you invite to dinner and why?
What do you know about stem cell research and the controversy surrounding it?
Suppose you been with a terminally ill patient for a long time and this patient has decided for you to perform euthanasia on him, how would you help him at his crossroads? (the question was not whether i would perform euthanasia on him or not)
How do you want to be remembered as a doctor 40 years from now?

ALL those goddamn questions were asked. Nothing about my grades, transcripts, personal statement, letters, etc.
I thought the interview went horrible but they kept saying that I did really well so who knows. Maybe they were trying to placate me. Anyway, it doesnt matter to me, I applied to MUA as a safety school for SGU, Ross, AUC, SABA. Anyway, I thought that this would help people out. The interview lasted about 1 hour.

    PM me for more questions.

I dunno. I've seen a majority of those questions in interview preparatory resources (do a google search). Those are all fair interview questions in my opinion.

I've even had a couple of them asked to me personally in my med school and/or residency interviews.

These are totally normal questions. There are three broad types of interview styles that medical schools use, and these questions represent the standard interview style questions to get to know an applicant. Other styles involve having you respond to predefined situations. In summary, these questions are open game to ask.

What makes you think you did poorly in the interview? Were you comfortable with the responses to these questions?

frankly if you dont like that, dont go on your residency interviews. Those questions are an attempt to suss out how you answer and how you think, to stimulate something interesting. interviewing is tough. frankly most are boring and in order to get something about the character of the person, offbeat questions are thrown out. you'll see when youre on the other side of the fence someday. frankly if the questions aren't hostile or rude or invasive, they can be a useful tool and you ought to try approaching them by enjoying them.

Why would they ask about grades, transcripts, personal statements and letters? They have those in front of them!

As a "coool guy", these should have been a piece of cake!

My interview did lead into the direction of grades. I had prepared for some health related questions one of them was stem cell research but they didnt ask me anything about it. Well i feel from the process that the interview is just a formality for the caribbean schools. Because if you dont qualify to be in, they wont review your files up so far leading to an interview. That is how i felt talking with the SABA folks. Not saying anything bad about SABA but things seems to be more straight forward with caribbean school.
