    Advertisements

has anyone had any problems getting certain items through customs when ariving to Nevis? I'm thinking mainly electronic items; has customs requested duty on certain items?

i'm a spouse, we came down in may. i had a printer in my hand and we also had two laptops. we weren't asked to pay anything and i didn't see any other students pay anything.

if you have items shipped, some duties will apply.

    nothing

My wife and I brought 2 laptops, 2 printers, 2 pda's, stereo, 2 vcr's, all sorts of stuff way beyond that .

    NO CUSSTOMS.

i've had a pda shipped in, no customs.

My wife had a pda/phone shipped in, 70% customs.

They do not charge Medical Students customs, unless it's something you coulda/shoulda bought here or it's not related to School.

this might be a stupid question, but how do you bring things like printers and stereos with you (can you tell I've never lived too far from home?!?) How many items can you carry with you on the flight and what is the weight limit??

    This is aproximate.

    50lb limitation per bag.
2 bags per person, not including carryons (where most people bring their printers and laptops)
    * you pay 100$ to increase the limit up to eighty lbs, that' sonly 3.30$ per lb. Cheaper than most other ways.

This is where it get's even cheaper.

Extra bags are only 70-100$ per bag, with 70-80 lbs in them. THAT'S CHEAP. THAT'S HOW WE GOT ALL OUR STUFF DOWN HERE.

Do a search on the word "barrel" or barrel shipping, or call University Books online (the linked "bookstore" on MUA's main website), I think they do barrel shipping.

    best of luck
