    mua

being that i haven't attended all 3 of these schools, i cannot comment. rarely will you find someone who has, but there is someone in our school who has attended all 3.

i asked him to rank them in his order, and he said "1st, MUA-Nevis, then CAHSU, then MUA-Belize"

he started at mua nevis, and wanted to continue in belize, so he transferred to MUA-belize. he had pretty bad things to say about MUA-belize, and now he is here at CAHSU. personally, i think anyone who has attended 3 different caribbean schools has problems with him/herself. there is no reason to transfer that many times... ONCE maybe, if things are really bad.

    Hey! Thanks again WCB22!
If you could answer some the questions i asked you in PM on the CAHSU forum, that would really help me and other future students...
I will restate my questions here:

*How are the teachers at CAHSU? Very Helpful or are you Almost on your own?
    *How is the Student/Faculty relationship?
*How are the living conditions in Belize?
*Where did you stay in belize for 8 months and how far was it from the campus?
    * How did you travel from home to School? (School bus, had your own car, etc.)
*How are the living conditions in Juarez/El Pase?
*How is the Juarez campus ? I have heard some very Negative things about it but i would like to hear from an actual student rom CAHSU...

    cahsu

Not to sound rude, I hope you are not comparing MUA to CAHSU (they will take anything/anyone with a pulse and a checkbook).

Ask that "someone" if he was able to pass all the courses at MUA Belize, (especially Histology & Anatomy) if he couldn't make it at MUA (which is often the case), he then transferred to CAHSU. I have seen it many times.

I do not know of any school that sends their current medical student to a neigboring medical school in attempt to recruit more students.

Another issue, why would you want to do your clinicals in some ghetto place in Mexico, when you can do them in the US?

I have to agree with bling bling. Last semester some of the muabelize students were driving by cashu and we noticed that the area is all fenced in or gated. Im assuming its for security purposes. But I have heard that beilze city is all more crime infested then san pedro. Honeslty the crime in san pedro is your bike getting stolen if its not locked up.

We were told not to walk at night on ur own or even in a group, like 5 mins from our hotel but that is not even a problem in san pedro. You can leave the school at like 4am and it would be safe.

Also, the cashu campus is on rented property where as the muz campus is built and expanding and owned by our dean, so you dont' have to worry about them getting up and moving away.

As for students going to Mexico for the latter part of there basic sciences I think is a bad idea. The area in mexico is apparently very corrupted and scary. I wouldn't want to be in an enviroment like that. As for teaching styles and curriculum I won't be able to compare because i have not been to cashu but i can say that Mua belize does have a great faculty whom will prepare you for the boards to there best ability.

Also, I think it more neccessary to have a car in Belize city to get around, while in san pedro your feet and a bike would be just as sufficient. Since anything and everything is so close by.

All three schools used to be under the same ownership but not anymore. The Serslands solely own MUA-Belize and still have a very good relationship with the owner of Saba and Nevis.

    ks 16

ks 16, you seem to have a lot to say about something you know little about. it sounds like the same old, "my school is better than yours" game that everyone likes to play.

what i said earlier was from a student's perspective at our school who has attended all 3 schools (nevis, belize, cahsu). i just said what he said about the school. i think he was speaking of mua-belize from their beginnings, which were pretty rocky; for all i know they could be really great by now, who knows?

bottom line is this... how prepared are you for the boards? what are you looking to score on the boards ks 16, or bling bling? are you barely going to pass, hit the US med school mean, or destroy the exam with a 99? what are you doing personally to prepare? i've heard people say that their faculty is so great they hardly have to study. can you say false security? good faculty is important, but personal motivation i venture is the key trait out here.

latin, as far as licensure is concerned, all 3 schools can be licensed in the same # of states. being unbiased, i would say mua-nevis is in the best shape for future licensure, being that it's successful sister school is SABA. these 3 schools can't be licensed though in CA, TX, KS, etc. pretty much, there are 40+ states you can be licensed in at these schools.

    Hey wcb22,

I don't think it was ever said that people say that our faculty is so great that we hardly have to study. Of course we have to study, study as much as we can. Having a great faculty helps us in studying the right material in the right way. And for your information we will do great on our boards and score high. We are motivated and it helps to go to school that motivates you and surrounds you with people that pushes us to do well.

i dont think I commented on the academics in CAHSU, because I can't. I have never atteneded there. But I can comment on what i saw. The living enviroment that students put them selves in plays a large role on how well you can perform. I think a more safe, stable enviroment is better to study in.

So before you decide to single comments out I'd appreciate it, if you would read the posting carefully.
