are IMGs considered for patho residency by US?

    Advertisements

are IMGs + non us citizens considered for path residency by US medical universities? if yes, what else is required in addition to steps' scores? (please mention the recommended scores, if you know).will a 4 week clerkship in path suffice? or research is also req? ( in terms of minimum requirements, not "the more the merrier") please mention the recommended scores, if you know.

personally I've done clinical electives. at Cornell, Edinburgh in UK, and brazil. none of it in path though.

    thanks!

Yes, IMGs match into pathology. No idea on their scores, but there are a lot of IMGs in the field.

No. You can do Anatomical Pathology/Clinical Pathology (2 plus 2 = 4 years)... but if you choose to pursue only AP or CP then you still have to complete a 3rd year of residency.

Check ABP... "Training consists of a minimum of four years of postgraduate education for anatomic and clinical pathology. There are also training programs in anatomic pathology only or clinical pathology only which requires three years of postgraduate education."

There are a bunch of 1-2 year fellowships available after residency, as well.
