    Michigan Residency license requirement

    Advertisements

Does anyone know if Michigan requires all "GREEN" rotations? I am not interested in practicing in Michigan, but they have a residency program that I am particularly interested in. Can i get a residency permit if I do not complete all my rotations at a GREEN hospital.

I am also interested in the above since I found information on the Michigan health web site that conflicts with some info posted in here. The legislation states:

All core clinical clerkships shall be completed either in a hospital or institution located in the United States, its territories, the District of Columbia or the Dominion of Canada that is approved by the board or in a hospital or institution that offers a postgraduate clinical training program in the content area of the clinical clerkship.

If you do a core at a hospital in the USA that has an ACGME accredited program would this hospital/institution satisfy the 1st part (approved by the board) so the 2nd part does not apply? I know of several people who did not do their cores in a hospital that offers a postgraduate clinical training program in the content area of the clinical clerkship but are doing residency in Michigan.

It's not that hard...call or email the respective boards and...ask them.

from what I've gathered people have called the board, been told that they must be "greenbook" (do those people at the board even know what that means?) and yet there are people who have indeed done umbrella greenbook rotations and are residents in michigan.
