Once again reading comprehension is your downfall. I don't wish to lower standards so grads from shady schools like Spartan have univeral licensure. They are not equivalent and never will be. You want to claim some ridiculous equivalency which hurts all Caribbean grads reputations. Schools like Spartan should be driven out of business. If I'm trying to make a case of equivalency the last school one should pick is a bottom tier school like Spartan. You can raise the schools to a standard of equivalency or lower the standard, you wish to lower the standard.

Do some reading on the philosophy of why DO schools were created as you make yourself seem foolish otherwise. Do schools were created when there was no shortage of US allopaths and US medical schools were still easy to get in to. Caribbean schools were and are still created/chartered as a pure money making opportunity. DO schools invest in students as US allopathic schools do, compare attrition rates of DO's to Caribbean schools.

Actually not true that most can practice in 90-95% of states. 90% eans dissapproved in only two states. Not being approved in CA(only 4 schools are) and those states that utilize CA list drops that well below 90%.

Yes, lets lower the standard so every 4th tier fly by night grad from a school with a 2 room rented building as a lecture hall and non green book clinicals can practice everywhere in the US. The standards are already low and still most schools can't rach it. I applaud NY, TX, CA, Fla, etc that set a standard. If they didn't these schools would have little incentive to better the schools.

sugar coat the DO degree however you want DO= cant get into allopathic school just like IMGs from the USA
You shouldn't pass on your ignorance of the differences of osteopathic and allopathic medicine to patients. The philosophy is different at the origin of DO medicine. Every person in medicine should know the difference, maybe you should knock that chip off your shoulder. It seems to be getting mighty heavy.

"the blatant abuse of power." Thats what this thread is all about, discussing the apparent blatant abuse of power of a certain medical board and it seems that what could have been a nice discussion turned into a pissing contest.

    Thanks!

    back to tx med board

continue to monitor what happens with the tx medical board.

there probably will be changes with other medical boards.
highly unlikely it is just tx medical board.

It should be noted: the accusations against the TMB are very serious and warrent investigation and appropriate action if guilt is determined. HOWEVER the referenced site above is AN EDITORIAL and not the origial source. It has its own polemic (if the phrase "gestapo-like" didnt tip you off to that fact).. read the source material if you waent to really learn something and not parrot pre-digested information.

    complaint available: http://www.AAPSonlineorg.

i will say there are very interesting accusations if you search online, including emails from the suing party.

    Error in stephew's link...

The correct link is: Association of American Physicians and Surgeons Look under News Release.

One of the link listed is Texas Medical Board Hearings

tx med board case in texarkana district court link

    http://www.aapsonline.org/tmb/tmb-12-20-2007.pdf

click on the website link to case

if anybody knows the outcome or has inside information please post

the same principles can be applied to other medical boards

they need oversight because some med boards are not allowing

due process, make arbitrary decisions, and have conflicts of interest.
