    Jobs for MDs w/o license...

What kind of job opportunities are there for MDs who just have their MD and no license/residency? I realize that practicing medicine is out of the question, what other options would one have?

They require only that you have an M.D. I don't know if they will sponsor foreign workers. It probably depends on the company, but you will need to speak PERFECT english.
Thanks man for your reply, i am actually preparing for myself what to do, because i am in a carribean univeristy, and just about to round up my program,j(presently wiating for my ECFMG certification, but from all indications, i observed that it would be difficult for me to get residency in US, so that is why i am so attracted to this post because it gives me hope of getting other jobs, which i am ready to do, but i dont know if i am eligible.

I am totally surprised no one has mentioned working for an insurance company. They pay around $80,000 per year

Why do you think you can't get a residency coming from the Caribbean once you get your ECFMG cert?

One little known fact that has not been mentioned but that can be VERY useful is that in Florida an MD can work without a license.

    It's true.

Just google Florida house officer job.

According to Florida law, you can do it. You have to work in a hospital, not an independent clinic or office. And it has to be a teching hospital.

You will do H&Ps. No diagnosis or treatment.

They will pay you around $13 per hour.....generally on a per diem basis with a contract lasting a few months.

This is a great way to get US clinical experience. They especially need Spanish speakers in Florida. And it can help you get LORs and a Residency.

    Why do they do this?

Cheap labor. When patients come in for procedures or day surgery they need an admission H&P by an MD. Their labs and everything are done. Their doctor is handling the diagnosis and treatment. It's monkey work, so don't burn up the Resident's time with it.

    Really.

    The down side?

There are very, very few positions available.

There is a wonderful article online by a Mexican guy who got a surgical residency by doing this.

I can't post links yet (site noob), but I will post substantial links about this matter soon, including specific Florida law regarding it.

Your answer is in the post immediately preceding yours. Did you scooped the whole thread?
