It depends on your school (for example Ross gives a maximum of 3 attempts). However, according to the USMLE website, "For Step 1 or Step 2, add 60 days to the date you took the exam and then go to the first day of the next month. This is the beginning of the first eligibility period to which you could be assigned. Example: If you take Step 1 on March 31, adding 60 days brings you to May 30. You would be eligible to sit on June 1. However, if you take Step 1 on April 2, adding 60 days brings you to June 1. You would not be eligible to sit until July 1 in this case.

You may take the failed Step no more than three times within a 12-month period."

So the USMLE lets you take it as many times as you like, but has restrictions within certain timeframes. However, your school might have stricter guidelines about sponsoring someone to sit for the exam. Hope this helps.

DON"T FORGET THE STATES. Many states set restrictions on the number of times you take the exam. In Maryland they will not license you unless you have passed within 3 attempts. If you take it more than that you have to look elsewhere. You may have an MD from your school, but without a license it isn't worth the paper it is written on. Good luck, study hard and hit your weak areas and you should do just fine. G

    Car Audio

I have no idea what it means but it's good to see car audio people aren't under-represented in the medical field. Too bad IASCA(car audio competitions) suck up here in the Northwest.

    Memories....

Ah yes, the good old days of busting out ear drums and ripping apart my car. I've kind of gotten away from car audio and "tried" to get into home audio(yeah right, like I can afford anything decent for home audio). I still have a set of new ID horns sitting in my garage. Now what's a good set of 8"s to put in the doors....

oh wait... why in the world would I need a car (let alone a car stereo)if I'm going to the Caribbean. dang.

    fun

car audio is fun. had plenty of electrical bnurns on my fingers cause i was to cheap to pay someone to put in my amps and stuff but the real fun is speed. no ear spliting stereo or 4 banger rice burner can compare to 302 inches of gt-40 vortech powered detroit muscle with a touch of clinical grade nos. the loss of peripheral vision at 120mph is awsome. i still remember engine blocks in the garage and fuel injectors under my bed...ah the good ol' days. i had to sell my 65 mustang to help pay for school so my first "real" check is already spent!

any other auto surgeons out there?
