It doesn't matter if you're a green alien from Mars, the MCAT is required for most US and Canadian medical schools MD or DO! Foreign schools and Caribbean schools may or may not use it in screening applicants as a predictor of an applicant's ability to succeed in medical school. The MCAT score is one of many factors in selecting a medical school applicant. For example, you may have had a poor undergraduate GPA but scored very well on the MCAT. Perhaps your school was academically more challenging or a notch above the average in grading and didn't accept "Baksheesh"???

    Well said; i agree.

also gives an indication on how you will do on a standardized exam, which is key for getting into residency and being successful as a student.

I have also heard that it may have to do with accreditation of the schools, but I am not totally sure. Accreditors when reviewing a school will take a sample of students to review and will make sure they have taken the mcat and went the a process of applying. Score here would not matter.

Any foreign school that receives title IV/FAFSA loans, MUST require the MCAT from all US citizens and US permanent residents.

They do not require this for non-citizens/non-permanent residents. However, many caribbean schools have decided to make it mandatory for everyone, as US students are often a larger percentage of the class sizes and it makes it easier to have one admissions standard.
