Why do you choose the Medical Profession?

Establishing a medical career isn’t easy; it is never walk in the park. It demands lots of effort, hard work, the stress of long hours and sometimes, and life-and-death situations. Sometimes, it may seem daunting to deal with all the stress and pressure, but there are lots of positive aspects to be a doctor and that's why as per recent statistic in 2010, approximately 691,000 physicians and surgeons were employed in the USA.

    1. Financial Security
The medical study is not less costly, it is expensive. Yet the job - satisfaction is high after being a doctor, especially in the USA. A Medscape salary survey was conducted in 2012 and according to this report, even the lowest-paid group of doctors, pediatricians earned about $156,000 per year. Doctors practicing several highly paid specialties - such as radiology, orthopedics, cardiology, and anesthesiology - reported average earnings of more than $300,000 per year.

    2. Prestige and Achievement
Too many patients’ eyes, medicine as a ‘calling’ much like the priesthood. It is certainly true to some extent. You will get lots of attainment if you have a great driving passion to be a physician. According to the journal Education for Health in Research shows that many doctors cited a sense of accomplishment as the career of a physician is fulfilling. No doubt to say that working as a doctor is a great distinction.

    3. Human Touch
According to many people, medicine as a “calling” much likes the priesthood. To some extent, this may certainly be true. But for that, you must have the driving passion to become a physician. A driving passion to help patients and family, to be challenged, and to learn throughout the life. Maybe, for that you need to sacrifice your time and energy for the care of your patients, often forsaking the family and even self. The most important aspect of being a doctor is, it is simply who they are; not only what just they do.

    4. Continuous Learning
Another important and exciting thing to be a doctor is continuous learning. Learning about the human body and the ways how it stops functioning is never really stop. It is the most rewarding factors for lifelong learners. Medicine is an exciting and rewarding thing because the science is constantly changing and evolving. New research and discoveries in the field of medicine and clinical research make the profession exciting and fascinating.
Today, lots of students can’t get the admission to their own state, city and even country. ‘Study Medicine Abroad’ is now popular among the medical aspirants. Studying abroad is not only the foundation of a successful career; it widens the perspective, broadens the mind and takes them to a destination of a new sky.

Thanks for such a great answer! Yeah, I totally agree with all of the points you've described. Being a medical worker of any speciality is prestigious, first of all. If you're skilful, persistent and hard-working enough, your efforts will be appreciated. You can become a recognized and professional doctor and attract lots of people who will trust you. Also, if you have a passion to help other people and you're ready to sacrifice your energy and time for the patients' care, then choosing the medical field is the right thing to do.
