Want to study medicine.. Please help !!

    Advertisements

    Hello everyone,

I'm a French citizen currently living in the UAE. I did my O levels in India in 2006 with 8 subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths.

After that, I moved to the UAE and I did a 3 year Bachelor degree in Business Administration. I just finished with it. I am now bored of business and want to move back to what I've always been interested in - Medicine.

I am now planning to pass my AS and A2 exams in Physics, Biology and Chemistry as a private candidate in January 2011 as per the Edexcel curriculum which includes a written paper for practicals.

After I'm done with that, I want to study medicine. The problem is, I don't know where to study. I am only 17 years old and that gives me quite an advantage in terms of age.

I could do it here in the UAE but if I do it here, I'm worried about the international recognization.

I also have an option to do it in France but I don't want to study in French and medicine studies are pretty long in France.

That leaves me with UK. I don't know which university will accept me with my educational background.

I would also like to study in the US but as far as what I've read, most of the uni's in the US require students to have completed a bachelor degree in science before starting off with medical courses.

Please help me on this and let me know which university and what educational curriculum in which country will be best for my situation?

Any help, suggestions, and information will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi!
4 year programs are for BsC graduates with majors in chem , bio and physics
You'll have to do a 6 year program
La France est une bonne solution , mais tu dois savoir que la 1ere année est un concours (PAES) et que le drop rate est de 80% environ voire 85%

    Thanks for replying

Do you speak French ?? Tu parles Francais ? I speak fluently if it's easier for you to communicate

I feel that studies in France are really long. I'm considering UK as there, its five years.

I'm aware of the 1st year exam in France and it's really hard to make it through but I don't have a problem in that. For me, its the duration that bothers me as it is too long.

I'm considering UK and US as well.

I don't know what to do

    oui je suis Français
UK actually is 7 years , because you reach "registered" status allowing you to apply for postgrad after 5 years + 2 years "fundation year" (after 5 years you get MBBS , not MD)
6 years programs give you possibility to postgraduate directly after the 6 years
US is the same than 4 years progs , you need 3 years doing (well) a BsC
These programs are shorter only in the case you have prerequisites for them
