I have been recently accepted to Ross, and last week I was invited for an interview for a D.O. school - PCOM-Ga campus. I know that I am not accepted to the D.O. school yet, but I am trying to prepare myself, if I do get in, b/c I am investing a lot to move down to Dominica. I have read numerous posts on Caribb school vs D.O. schools. My concern is not a question of D.O. vs Caribbean MD, but rather a new D.O. school (3 years old) vs an established Caribb Med school. My worry about going to the D.O. school is that I will not have as many oppurtunities b/c the school is not established, as far as residencies and clinicals go. I have read that there are less hoops to jump through if you are at a US school (allopathic or Osteopathic). Ross has more flexibility shown through their residency matches, and I don't want to fell restricted to family medicine if I go to the DO school. Any input would be appreciated.

Nothing wrong with a new US DO school atall, and you may not make it into the DO school yet. If you are accepted at both, take the DO, if not, then Carrib MD it is.

    Personal opinion.

    Good luck.

    Definitley DO!!!

I personally think that you should choose the DO school. PCOM is one of the oldest and most prestegious osteopathic schools in the country. Choosing Ross over PCOM is just a silly thought!!!

    I thoroughly agree with that.
One line of thought on this subject is that it depends very much on what speciality you will ultimately choose, as well as where you want to practise. I found this http://www.valuemd.com/327035-post7.html
    which might help you decide.

    Hey Bro - congrats

Hey Bro - Congrats - that school is good. Hope your interview goes well and is swell. If I had the choice of Island Schools vs DO - would go DO. You are just a short drive down 316 to get back to Athen's dens of serious partying for Et-OH recreation also.

I call it like I see it. I am not paid by ValueMD or any school. Nor do I recruit for any school.

    GA connection

    jamesnylon,

My fellow Ga brother... I appreciate the congrats, I still need to get accepted though, but staying positive. I am going to make a final decision if I am going to wait for their decision, after the interview. Yeah, the Et OH up the road is enticing, not to mention PCOM is a stone's throw away from the best damn college football in the nation! Go Dawgs! If I already asked, I apologize, but....Have you been accepted yet?

    Best of Luck!
