NY / NJ Housing Advice for Rotations: Furnished?

    Advertisements

What is the deal with most apartments in the New York/New Jersey area during clinicals?

Do people rent for 1 or 2 years?

Are any apartments for med students furnished? Are there places that are furnished with internet/cable so you can just show up with clothes and a computer and be ready to go?

Any advice on housing is appreciated.
Everybody wants to marry a doctor, right?...So I married a med student!

Everybody does something different based on their situation. New York and New Jersey are full of all kinds of different housing arrangements so it's possible you might find a cable-ready furnished apartment. But I don't think there are necessarily any specific "med student" apartments in New York - I think there is some sort of housing for one of the NJ clinical sites. For New York most people find apartments in the following ways: a) word of mouth, b) Craig's list/internet c) Brokers d)pounding the pavement in the neighborhood

even if the cable and internet isnt hooked up when you moved in, you can call the cable company and have a package with internet and it will be set up within a week or 2. nothing like gnd where you wait a few months

Definitely a few options for you:

1.) Check out furnished sublets on Craigslist.
2.) Call me and I'll tell you about a short-term or 1 year lease situation.

I deal primarily in Williamsburg and Greenpoint sections of Brooklyn. Feel free to call me anytime!
