Psychiatry is a medical specialty practiced by physicians with an M.D. or D.O. degree. Psychiatrists treat patients with mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Psychiatrists may use therapy, medication, hospitalization, or a combination of these treatment options in the care of their patients. Psychology is not a medical specialty and should not be confused with psychiatry.
These are academic institutions which offer physicians specialized training in Psychiatry. These schools may also offer research opportunities, training to other mental health professionals, and treatment for mental health patients.
