    Jag U.S. Clinical Question

    Advertisements

Hello, i'm a Canadian student planning to apply next year. I just needed some clarifications.

    1) Does Jag set up your clinicals in Rochester/California? or do you set them up yourself?
    2) How hard is it to get those USA clinicals?
    3) How many weeks of clinicals can you do in USA (12 or 16 weeks?)
    4) I'm considering Caribbean and Polish schools. I know carib schools make you do all your rotations in USA. Having only 12-16 weeks of USA clinicals, would i be at more of a disadvantage going to a polish schools as opposed to the carib schools, in terms of returning to North america for residency?

    Thank you in advance!

From what I know, I believe you have to set them up yourself; otherwise it's rotations in Poland.

During 3rd Year, Dr J. (well known Polish-American neurologist from UR, and the residency program director) travels to Krakow to teach the neuro rotation. During this, he will interview students interested in rotating at UR. Based on your interview, and how well you do in his course, you will be approved for Rochester. UC rotations (which I did not look into b/c of $$$ reasons, are arranged similarly, interviewing with a representative from Cali).

It's not difficult if you happen to be bright, hard working, and know how to make a good impression.
    3) How many weeks of clinicals can you do in USA (12 or 16 weeks?)

    I did 16 weeks.

    4) I'm considering Caribbean and Polish schools. I know carib schools make you do all your rotations in USA. Depends. In my opinion, US rotations are important for one reason and one reason only: to secure US letter of recommendation for eventual application to residency programs. Without trying to sound harsh, if you cannot accomplish that in 12-16 weeks, you may wish to consider another path in life.

    Thank you in advance!
    You're welcome.
