    confused and paranoid

    Advertisements

hey ya'll, few more questions tht are probably pointless but are kinnda troublin me.

i was checking out the school site and stummbled upon the page for the 4 year program.
im applying to the 6 year thingy one but i was just checking it out when i saw a few differences.

    firstly, it says,
In the final year our students are eligible to complete clinical rotation in approved teaching hospitals.
Students may apply for the elective rotations through the home University:
University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, NY

Below is the current list of the universities that offer elective rotations to students in their final year of study.

Please note that applications for elective rotations in the universities listed above must be addressed to the Jagiellonian University Medical College School of Medicine in English, NOT the host institution, as the eligibility depends on agreements signed by these universities and JUMC.
now i have been told by students tht even the 6 year program students can take part in them, but i was wondering why only the 4 year page had this info.

also if available, any stats of students from the 6 year program who have residencies in USA?

lastly, if any student who is currently in the 6 year progrm reads this..plz inbox moi or reply here.id love to ask a few more questions )

    thanks alot.

This is an educated guess, but I would surmise that most of the people who apply to the 4-year program are more likely to be North Americans seeking USCE and residencies. Europeans and other nationals are probably more likely to know about and apply to the 6-year program, because that is the nature of medical education in their neck of the woods, and they will probably have less interest in USCE. Yes, there are going to be exceptions, but FWIW that is my take on the issue.

Candy 80% of 6-year program is occupied by Norwagian students, most of whom are heading back to home, Norway. This year its said that Jag had an agreement with Malaisia as well (as with Norway), so how things will roll next year I cant see. But I know for sure that they send 6-year programs students for USCE as well, but dont wait for it be an easy bite. Only the successful ones are going.

As for residency match list, there isnt such a list. There is no guarantee for a residency match, if you get in Jag. You can take it or leave it only by evaluating their academical merits, their students references, theoretical/clinical properties, admission criteria etc.

Actually I asked a similar question to the guys from Jag here, maybe you join too:

Why I meant by stats was that I have read in various threads that someone knows someone who was in the 4 year program and is now doing his/her residency in USA...but I haven't read such a thing for a 6 year program graduate..soo its was wondering if there is any hope just for personal satisfaction.....

Darlingos here there is the 6-year program graduates of 2009 (top left one):
    School of Medicine in English

Regarding that the class size is limited with 60 Norwegian+20 others (though in 2009 the quota may be somewhat different, but regarding the grad numbers are gradually and slightly increasing in years, I dont expect 2009 quota to be very different than this year's) AND regarding that the number of 6-year grad number for 2009 is 39, and also regarding that (be patient, its ending ) 80% is Norwegians, then the number of students that go to US from the 6-year program must very very few. But its a choice question, though maybe they cant make it as well.

If you didnt see anything specifically about 6-year grad.s residency chance, why dont you/we ask this? I would love to learn it as well. Really they may have an idea about 6-year grads' plans. Actually if Rotten, Kluver or Dave_MD come and answer my last questions in the thread above, I would love to peck them further for more info
