    Poznan vs Jag

    Advertisements

    Hello,
I was trying to decide between Poznan and Jagiellonian. They both seem like good schools.
    What do you think?

From the people I spoke with from Poznan, they were all quite pleased they came there, from both the university and the city.
I've been accepted there, but am beginning to research about Jag. although I believe I would be attending PUMS in any case.
They introduced the NBME exams on all subjects (from what I understood from their website).

For some reason, I applied only to Poznan, and did not even look at other schools in Poland, hope I made the right decision

There are a bunch of threads about this so browse through the topics before posting identical questions.

I was accepted to PUMS but gladly gave up my spot (and $1000 deposit) when i was accepted to Jag. Poznan accepts everybody. Jagiellonian is more prestigious and with a class of only 40, is much more selective. Just do a search/look through the other threads and you'll find more on this topic.

Dave, were you accepted to the 4 yr. program or the 6 yr. program?

    Well, it sounds pretty good.
I went over to Jag. website, and the sample questions from the entrance exams seemed pretty fierce to be honest. Not the most pleasant exam..
But then again, the ones in the Poznan test weren't so much fun as well..

FWIW, don't look for the easiest place to get in... find the BEST place that you can get in. This may mean getting a few rejections, but that is of little consequence in the long run.

I was quite pleased to hear I got into Poznan. I think I'll be going there eventually, because in the end, it all depends on who you are, and how hard you study and want to know.

To an extent, that is true... and it is great that you have been accepted to a school that will provide a path to the goal. However, remember that there is also weight given to the source of your degree... the "lower" on the scale that is, the more ground there is to make up with USMLE scores, research, etc. And that little tidbit will last your entire career, not just while you are trying to match into a residency.

Good luck to you, wherever you study!
