    Advertisements

Hi i'm a guy from the Toronto area looking to apply to JAG for the 2011 year.
I do come from Polish roots so i can read and speak the language.
I am currently in my final year, grade 12 and am looking for any useful information.

    My marks are as follow
    82% in biology(12)
    91% in kinese(12)
    77% Calculus(12)
    English not done
    physics not done
    chemistry not done

    -How is the entrance exam?
-Do we get a study sheet before it?
    -How's first year
    -Do we work with cadavers?
-How much are the books? what books are they?
-Anyone else in the GTA looking to apply for next year?
-how much are the dorms? Ive seen on their site some very very small . rooms going for 300 Zloty per month

Any other helpful information would be appreciated...

    thanks

im applying too i love this school, its been my dream forever i would try to help, but the only thing i know is that they dont even look at your marks. your entrance to the school is solely based on your score on the exam

i'm also from the GTA but i'm in the 4 year program so i can't help with the 6 year specific questions but the others i may be of some help with:

    Do we work with cadavers?

yes, anatomy lab is done with cadavers.

How much are the books? what books are they?

you can find the booklist for the I/VI here, as well as prices.

    medicalbooks.pl

    How much are the dorms?

The dorms are currently 1000-1200 PLN /month depending if you have a single or double room. However the dorms are closing in December and being converted into classrooms and office space, so first year students will be housed elsewhere starting next year.

Hi there people! I am a medical student in UJCM and i'm in my first year.
Great to know that you are considering to join UJCM.
Jesaczek: You're grades are good enough for you to get into this university....
well. let me answer some of your questions or maybe you would have figured them out by now.
    1. the entrance exam will be MCQs covering Biology and Chemistry. To be honest, they are kinda tricky though, but with the aid of the study guide that you'll receive and some extra reference materials, I think you'll do great!!
    2. The 1st year of the 6 year programme isn't tough to be honest.....you'll be in a way much better condition than than the 4 year MD programme students who might be studying 24/7. We have anatomy and histology as the most important subjects besides chemistry, organic chemistry, medical first aid, medical Polish and Embryology. but the point is you will definitely have time to chill out with friends.
    3. yes, we handle cadavers in the 1st year but more towards learning the structures and there will be practical exams almost every month....brutal but not bad,
    4. you might have figured out about the books. but one point to note is do not get all the books suggested in the list, get yourself here first, and you can talk to some students from the upper year regarding the books, not all books suggested are needed or the best...there are better ones.
Good luck and all the best!!

    Hello,

I am from Kingdom of Bahrain..I am a High School Graduate and I Shall be Applying to UJ 6 year M.D program..
I Am really Concerned about getting into the University like any other applicant would be..
    I had some questions..

1.English is not my first Language..and is it really really necessary to provide the university with either TOEFL or IELTS exam...But i do speak english obvioulsy because y school was English Medium..
So is it ok if I give this reason in my application and not provide them with TOEFL or IELTS exam scores..Would my application be still considered??

2.Honestly, My grades arent that excellent..But i read on a thread that the admission depends on our entrance exam result..I know they send us the books to study from..
    But
If i am given exam dates does that mean i am admitted to the university???
because i obvioulsy do not want to fly poland for an exam and then theyre telling me am not admitted...

3.How long do they take for giving a reply..? (thats my major concern..i am VERY bad at waiting)

4.Do they provide the International Student with Visa or Letter that i may need to show here at an Polish Embassy for getting a visa to Poland??

5.Is the M.D degree from UJ recognized?
i mean i would wanna come back here and practice...so would i be able to do that...because bahrain is a small place..and its a very narrow range or degrees that they accept..i mean..one of my friends did M.B.B.S from China and no hospital..none at all would take her...there are others too with similar cases..they did their's from russia china etc. and no hospital would want them to practice at their's.

6.Last one..How are polish people..i mean are they good to be friends with ??..i have no idea about the polish language..culture..country..people..

I would HIGHLY HIGLY appreciate any sort of help on these questions.. =)

UJ is recognized by the US so i wouldnt see why it wouldnt be in your country. I am polish, i wouldnt mind bruku friends with you haha polish people are great!! And my grades arent the best either, doby sorry about it. Yes we do get study booklets and the entrance exam depends on everything really. Im not sure when you get a reply if youre accepted or not .. But probably wrogie july-August. When you get the exam dates, that does not mean you are accepted, just means you have to write the exam.. Whatever your score is on that is whether youre in or not. And Polska is awesome!!!!!! Especially krakow!
