    Group exams?

I heard in Europe they let you do tests in groups. Is this true?
or is this just specific Universities? Do you have to pay for retakes?

Hahaha no, no group exams, at all not at least 1st year, and in none of the others I know of either. We have to take everything individually, and if you fail you have usually 1 or 2 retakes available as an option that are free. If you don't pass though after taking the retakes either you are gently nudged out of school or they may let you retake the course, for an extra fee of course.

I have never heard of a group exam here in E-Eu... but we had them in the States in one of my classes. We had assigned study groups for online clinical vignettes, and worked together on a test for part of our final grade. The group received one grade across the board. I haven't seen anything that organized since I came to E-Eu.

Oh, and the initial re-takes at my school do not cost anything (except the time to prepare for them, that is!).

I have read on one of the other threads that if you fail a course like Biochemistry or Anatomy at Jag, you are made to retake th whole year again. Please if a student from Jag can kindly confirm or correct this statement and let me know the actual policy, it would be highly appreciated !

If you fail biochem over the course of the year (you need to get 60% of total points over the year) then you have to retake the next year. Basically you need to do well the whole year, or you may get yourself into a situation where you are going into a final and need a 120 out of 100 at which point you pretty much fail no matter what.
For anatomy it works the same way, kind of. You need a certain amt of points to be able to take the final, and then you need a certain amount of points on the final itself to pass. If you fail anatomy, and the retake, you fail the course, and have to repeat it.
But, as far as I know you need permission to repeat a course the next year, its not just like you can fail a course completely and with no consequence take it the next year. They will take a serious look at you if you should be here if something like this happens to you. But... there is no reason to be thinking about stuff like this before you start any med school courses. Think about passing, and doing your best, don't worry about all the rest unless it impacts you.

the first year neuroscience exam is actually a group oral exam. we haven't had it yet so i can't comment on it first hand, but from talking to upper years you take the exam in a small group, alternating answering questions that the professor has prepared.

FYI - In the 4 year program, Family Med and Psych are both done by group oral exam.
