    Cost of living

Any current Jagiellonian student know how much an apartment in Krakow costs?

What could i expect to pay for a single apartment near the school, or within reasonable distance?

There is a huge price range depending on how close to the city center (and class) and the quality of the apartment. If you want a nice new apartment in a high class development it could be about 1500zl-1800zl for single person apartment. If you are willing to have lower standards a single person apartment can be had for about 1300zl-1400zl a month. But remember to ask what kind of heat the apartment has ie gas, electric, or central. If its electric I wouldn't take it because the bills will be very high during the winter.

As was mentioned, there is a huge range depending on the state of the apartment itself and its location. I have heard of places as low as 700zl/month, though the norm seems to be around 1100-1500.

I have an apartment that is very centrally located, less than 5 min walk to all classes and less than 10 to the main square. I pay about 2200 zl ($700ish) a month after everything is taken into account. Like anywhere, the price depends on a lot of things. The good thing is that there is no shortage of places to rent here, so you can be fairly sure you will find something you like in your price range and in the location you want.

Will you be staying in the dorms at all or are you looking to get a place before school starts?

I have a place I rent with one roommate for 900zl/month. It's 85m^2 and centrally located. Most people who do not live alone pay in the 800-1200zl/month range. If you're trying to cut costs, however, it's possible to live further out ... in which case the costs decrease dramatically.

Sorry, I should've specified: it's two people living in a two bedroom apartment.
