    Tuition Hikes? When?

    Advertisements

I'm soo very confused ... can someone explain when and what tuition hike is referred to in the below quote from a recent reply in another thread??

"Tuition hikes as described by President Nair at the SGA meeting, that a $1000 raise was necessary to hire additonal faculty in each department, so that such things dont happen in the future."

The way it's worded makes it sound like ANOTHER one?? What?! so reffering to the above quote... are we still at the $6000 for next semester or is it more now?

IFF it's not another one and we're still good at the current tuition rate... then should we expect one after formal NY approval goes through?

    Tuition Increase

The tuition increase mentioned is only for the current students since they are currently paying 5000/semester. The tuition for all students will be raised to 6000 starting Jan 2011. thanks

    Why?

Why do they raise tuition? Nothing about the school has changed....they dont even have the so claimed NY approval yet.

Tuition raise is required to facilitate much required changes to improve the overall quality of our school. Even if all things remain constant, university staff has reasonable expectations for pay raise and increase in benefits each year. Plus you have to take into account annual inflation and increase in operation costs each year. Even at $6000 per semester, IAU tuition is lower than schools of similar standards or higher.

There is no "standard" tuition that can be applied to all foreign medical schools. Carib school tuitions vary anywhere between $2500 to $25000 per semester of basic science education. And whether there is value addition or not, it seems to me that an annual tuition raise of 10 - 15% is inevitable.
