I am planning to transfer to IAU from AUA. I passed step 1 on first time and waiting time for clinical for AUA is long so I was deciding to apply to IAU but I am getting so confused and scared reading this forum...can someone help
    I have few questions:
    1. If I do all my rotations in chicago will I be fine?(I read about third party thing) I can get license and able start residency in NY?
    2. How about the electives. Do school set the student up for electives or student have to find their own?
    3. IAU only have 3 residents name so only 3 graduated and what about rest of other students? I am really confused right now Help please

The school is too new and has very few graduates. They don't have a single graduate with an unrestricted license. It is a big unknown in terms of licensing as finding residency doesn't guarantee that you will be getting licensed. I would pick more experienced schools that actually have graduates who have been licensed and are practicing. This is the safest bet.

    1. You can do all your rotations in Chicago. IAU does not offer rotations through third parties. Once you complete your rotations and USMLE Step 1 & 2, you should be able to do residency and be licensed in NY.

    2. All electives are scheduled by the school. Students have the option to set up their own electives through our office of clinical affairs and subject to approval by the Dean of Clinical Sciences.

    3. IAU started in 2004 and our first graduating class came out in 2009. We had 6 graduates, out of which 3 are in US residencies. 4th graduate is completing his post doctoral research in UK. Two graduates did not match due to insufficient USMLE scores.

If you have any additional questions, kindly email me at sajith@iau.edu.lc or contact the Office of Clinical Affairs at 972-484-9700.
