    Hey worryd,

While I am no a current student, I like you am a perspective student, and would like any info I can get as well. What kinds of stories have you heard as far as negatives to IAU?

you are a perspective or a prospective student..? either way I guess u too shd have read the hundreds of posts in this forum, even the current ones like 6 mths ago, dont seem to be great. And even the one student who seems to have residency placement from this school does not recommend it to another prospective student in the same valuemd forum. plz do ur research.

Hey Docdre, I saw ur other posts and read that u have gotten into UMHS and MUA also. if money is not ur problem, I wud recommend that school. UMHS will get NY approval by 2012 or 2013 the least, anyway before u set foot into residency. MUA is established school and has really good placements, and soon to be CA approved. If in case NY is your concern. The only reason for IAU appealing to me is because of recent NY approval. But a school being state approved does not mean that it has crossed all its hurdles.

You will encounter the same problems in every Caribbean school you choose. If you notice, they all pretty much use the same hospitals, have the same foreign trained faculty, and the same complaints from their students. These schools are just a means to write the boards and nothing else. One should not expect a whole lot because you will set yourself up for disappointments.

Where off-shore schools differ is in their tuition. Find a legitmate school with at least a NY approval that charges the lowest tuition and go with it. If you are a weak student, you will have academic problems no matter where you go. If you are self motivated with good study skills and a independent spirit, you will be fine in any off shore program. No Caribbean school will give you an edge. Go for the least expensive route and don't get into unnecessary debt because high tuition and jazzy buildings don't equal quality.

    Hi Worryd,

If you go to IAU's website and follow this link Student Life , you will find a list of current students who can answer any specific questions you might have on the school. It is quite a large list, so i am sure you will get different perspectives and hence a more accurate picture of the school.
